FUFA in limbo over NCS demands

One of the issues FUFA president Moses Magogo will have to consult on at the FIFA Congress in Mexico on Friday will be whether to adhere with National Council of Sport (NCS) and register as a trustee or risk being thrown out by the country's supreme sport's governing body.

As the FUFA president set off for the Congress his deputy Darius Mugoye told the press that they would proceed with the exercise after seeking FIFA's opinion.

He said that as it is for now, the current demand by NCS for all sports governing bodies to register with it as trustees on behalf of Ugandans violate regulations of FIFA which is likely to attract a ban.

"The current regulations have been drawn to violate FIFA statutes. They make Government interference (in football affairs) legal although the NCS Act," said Mugoye.

FUFA has found itself at crossroads because NCS has warned that any federation that does not comply with its directives will not be recognized and will be replaced by any other groups that will be willing to comply.

FUFA said that it has called for up to the end of October to hold a meeting with NCS, FIFA and the Solicitor General to find a common position.

FUFA has contacted the FIFA legal officers seeking for guidance on the trusteeship demanded by the Solicitor General.
