Toro kingdom launches fruit growing campaign

The campaign was launched in Bunyangabu county Kabarole district by King Oyo Kabamba Iguru who donated passion fruit seeds to thousands of his subjects.

Toro kingdom has today Wednesday launched fruit growing campaign aimed at increasing household level.

The campaign was launched in Bunyangabu county Kabarole district by King Oyo Kabamba Iguru who donated passion fruit seeds to thousands of his subjects.

"The Toro kingdom in collaboration with the central government has joined efforts to eradicate poverty in Toro through farming" King Oyo said while delivering a speech to his subjects.

King Oyo directed the Kingdom Prime Minister Bernard Tungakwo to ensure that every house hold in the kingdom benefits from the campaign.

He also asked political leaders in Toro to collaborate with the kingdom to mobilize masses fruit farming as a key enterprise in the fight against poverty.

Prime Minister Tungakwo asked the people of Toro to change their mindset towards farming.

He disclosed that the kingdom is in final plans of introducing fish caging and tree planting as a business.

"I ask all people of Toro to work hard for development and growth of the kingdom to restore the lost glory" Tungakwo said.
