Mutoni Warriors have survived being relegated from the Nile Special Premier Rugby League following their three successive wins against Pirates, Rhinos and the latest, a 21-13 win over Makerere Impis.

Hilary Ssemusu gave Warriors a 5-0 lead courtesy of a try at Legends Rugby Club, before Benjamin Kinobe added a conversion to stretch the lead to 7-0. But Impis replied the same way, forcing a 7-7 halftime break.

In the second half, both teams mounted pressure on each other but Warriors were quick to add a try and penalty by Gabriel Aredo, before Kinobe also added a conversion and two penalties to stretch Warriors' lead to 21-7.

Impis fought back and managed to score two penalties by Arinaitwe Stallone but that's as far as they could get as the game ended 21-13.

Warriors team captain Gabriel Aredo attributed their success to team work and dedication of the players.

"We have picked up our rhythm and the boys have come to understand that it is their dedication that matters and the team has to stay in the top tier league," he said.

Warriors now leave Impis, Gulu Elephants and Rams at the bottom of the table battling the drop. The bottom team will be relegated at the end of the season.
