An escape mission by two teenage boys and their two teenage girlfriends to enjoy themselves at a night club in Luweero ended on a sad note, when the four were knocked dead by a speeding ambulance.

The Thursday night accident took place at 9.00 pm at Ngogolo trading centre near Luwero town, about 72 kms on the Kampala-Gulu highway.

The Luwero District police officer in charge of traffic, Willy Abahe said the speeding ambulance was rushing an accident victim from Nakasongola District to Mulago hospital in Kampala when it knocked dead the four who were riding on one motorbike.

He identified the dead teenagers as Bonny Senyonga 19, Zziwa Makanga 19, and their two girl friends: Mango Nakate 15 and Mwajjuma Namuddu 15.

He said the four had travelled from a nearby village called Nsenge and were branching to night club at Ngogolo trading centre, when the ambulance knocked them dead.

The driver of the ambulance, Peter Magezi   who was interrogated at Luweero police station on Friday morning, said the motor bike on which the four were riding, abruptly turned into the middle of the road as they were branching to the night club.

Magezi said that after knocking the victims, the ambulance lost control and swerved off the road.

He said the victim he was transporting together with a nurse and an attendant, escaped with minor bruises.
