The dam dried up because of the prolong dry spell.

Lieutenant Hammad Hassan Kato, the acting 4th Division army public relation officer says they have brought in the force to clean the shores of Oyitino dam, where NSWC pumps water to supply the people of Gulu.

He says the UPDF soldiers were filling sand bags to be laid down the water wave to raise its level.

Lt. Kato asked the people of Gulu to use water sparingly and observe proper personal hygiene to avoid disease outbreak.

The NSWC Gulu area manager, Paul Rackara says they are doing their best to ensure that water supply is back in the next one to two weeks.
