Fresh clashes break out in Bundibugyo

These started after a group of Bakonjo youth killed a 12 year old boy only identified as Aron

Tension is high in the western district of Bundibugyo following tribal clashes between the Bamba and Bakonjo that broke out on Tuesday night.

According to the Rwenzori regional police spokesperson Lydia Tushabe the clashes started after a group of Bakonjo youth about 25 in number attacked one Tibamwenda Samson's home a resident of Buseruka village in Ntotoro sub county killing him and his 12 year old son only
identified as Aron.

In the same home the group also injured a woman identified as Night Faith 50 years and her
son only identified as Basiime 8 years.

The group according to the police spokesperson also attacked the home of Mulyabwana Nelson 75 killing him and his wife Flora Kajoina. Following the incident, the police together with its sister forces deployed heavily in the area to ensure security.

However in the afternoon, another group of about 25 Bakonjo youths who were warring face masks attempted to attack security operatives who were deployed in the area with an intension of grabbing guns from them.

The police say that in the process, two of the attackers were shot dead and 13 arrested.
