Wafula Oguttu exits Parliament

NRM's Silwany polled 28,049 votes while Oguttu garnered 22,186 out of the 183 polling stations in Bukooli Central


A 28-year-old Solomon Silwany has stunned the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Wafula Oguttu to win the Bukooli Central parliamentary race. 
 
Silwany polled 28,049 votes while Ogutu garnered 22,186 out of the 183 polling stations in Bukooli CentralSilwany contested on an NRM ticket. 
 
The other independent candidate Daudi Mulengani polled 3,465. 
 
Silwany promised to fulfil all the pledges he made like extension of clean piped water to Bukooli Central constituency besides improvement of infrastructure like roads as one of his major priorities. 
 
Supporters of Silwany carried him high through town from the tallying centre after he was announced the winner of the polls. 
 
Oguttu never turned up at the tallying centre. This is the second time Silwany was contesting for the same seat. 
 
Agnes Taàka also won woman member of Parliament seat.


Four women contested for Bugiri woman member of parliamentary race including Rosette Nsonga of GForward and Hadija Babi on independent ticket.
