All peace as Proscovia flies out for pro career

The 27-year old, who locally played for NIC, departed for the UK aboard Qatar Airways.

She Cranes prolific shooter Peace Proscovia can't wait to put up a good performance in England just to make sure the world is enlightened about the abundant netball talent in Uganda.

"I will fight hard to prove to the world that Uganda has talent. Maybe this will be an avenue for my colleagues to also be spotted," she said.

After a successful trial contract with Loughborough Lightning last season, Proscovia was called back on a two year deal to play professional netball with the side in the England Netball Super league starting January 30.

The 27-year old, who locally played for NIC, departed for the UK aboard Qatar Airways.

Last year, the 1.93m athlete put up an outstanding performance in the English league to become the third best shooter, scoring 548 goals of the 599 attempts in 14 games.

"I will miss my friends and family but I also can't wait to enjoy the privileges of playing as a professional. I have already been allocated an apartment that I will be sharing with Jamaican Vanessa Walker. She was my friend during the last season," Proscovia stated.

She expressed gratitude to the management of NIC, especially team manager Jocelyn Ucanda who she said has been like a mother to her.

Ucanda herself had mixed feelings.

"We are happy her dreams finally came true. This could be a cornerstone for others but we shall miss her as we prepare to reclaim the East Africa Club Championship title in March here in Kampala," she lamented.
