The Centenary Bank chaplaincy has contributed sh4m to the Papal charity walk.

The employees, led by the bank’s human resources officer, Florence Mawejje, on Thursday handed over a cheque worth sh4m to Vision Group chief Robert Kabushenga at Mapeera House in Kampala, the bank’s headquarters.

The money will go towards refurbishing the Namugongo and Munyonyo martyrs shrines.

“So far, 70 of our staff members have confirmed that they will participate in the Pope charity walk on Saturday,” Mawejje said.

According to Mwanje, Centenary Bank has so far contributed more than sh100m towards the cause.

“On behalf of Centenary Bank, I thank Vision Group for the good work they are doing in fundraising for this noble cause. I call upon other Ugandans to show their support,” Mawejje added.

Kabushenga thanked the bank for the contribution. He said all the money collected will be handed over to the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, for the reconstruction of the shrines .

He called upon schools, well-wishers and companies to send in their contributions.
