"Dad ain't my Father"

Did I hear that, “Only a handful of people across the world ever get the chance to know who their real fathers are”! Vague as it sounds, seems to be the painful reality-less painful unknown but excruciatingly hurting brought to birth.

Did I hear that, “Only a handful of people across the world ever get the chance to know who their real fathers are”! Vague as it sounds, seems to be the painful reality-less painful unknown but excruciatingly hurting brought to birth.

At first, this statement was quite perturbing because, for many a people, if daddy is the husband of mummy, then daddy must be my father. Ah, no. Turns out that “daddy may actually not be your father”

Yes, it has been discovered that some women, fed up with tormenting characters of their husband’s discovered later in life, are unwilling to bear children that are likely to propagate similar characters. In fact, others believe that some men are from a cursed lot, and the only way to cut the trend ‘without hurting’, is to mate with a better gene at the most appropriate time and let poor man believe it was him that did the business. After all, if the resultant child doesn’t resemble the “father”, it will at least resemble the mother!

Hmmm, and yes, there have been a few cases in our days where the question of fatherhood has been a bone of contention, the most recent being that of fallen Ugandan actor Paddy Bitama. It wasn’t until his death that a little known man showed up to claim he was the actual father- Yet beyond merely claiming fatherhood, the man could adduce no further evidence before DNA tests could rule him out of order!

Well, men have historically been said to be notorious for cheating on their wives; but with the latest developments, it turns out that actually women are smarter! Not only are they aware of the fact that it takes a single sperm to make a child, but women also know pretty well when it is the right time to conceive, and they needn’t attempt to cheat on their husbands daily in order to achieve their desired end. And this is how some mothers have silently determined world order!

Hmmm, the last time I interfaced with mating realities was to do with animals, where a farmer would borrow a neighbour’s perfect bull to mate with his ripe cow in order to reap hyper genes in the offspring. And just when I thought this was a preserve of the animal world, then it turns out that we are all animals after all!

At this, every man must now know why they must try to be their best to their wives in order to earn the right to true fatherhood. Yet who can blame the women? Looking at the mess prevailing in our world today; rebel activities, corruption, rape, robbery, drug abuse, anything heinous-the number one culprit is always a man. Which mother would want to replicate such tendencies in her child? And not to suggest that boys are the only bad genes, there are girl children out there akin to their fathers whose genes no mother would ever wish to replicate. And without suggesting that all mothers are angels, they no doubt hold the key to determining our very existence.

It is, however, imperative to note that while all the aforementioned prevails; no one must ever underestimate the role of God in the process of creation. He is the ultimate artist for all there is in this world; and both the bad and the good, the disabled and the upright, the sane and insane, the bright and the dull, come to being under his watchful eye and they belong to him. None of us was created as we are without a purpose, but it takes divine eyes to appreciate all of God’s creation as is. In essence, even the mad man on the streets has a critical contribution to the world for sure, and so does a modern day terrorist! Only God can best explain it all. Imagine what a bore mother world would be if everyone were perfect! So, one must think not just twice but thrice before conceiving of fathering a child with neighbor next door-it could be worse!

All said and done, we must never underestimate the role socialisation does to our ultimate being. We’ve surely seen children born out of supposedly cursed families sprout into world heroes, while those born of so-called upright parents turn into a nuisance. To this level, I believe mothering children from different fathers is merely speculative and serves no other purpose than mere perversion just as does fathering children from different women.
