FORUM for Democratic Change (FDC) supporters in 12 districts are living in constant fear of being harassed by government officials, the party president Mugisha Muntu has claimed.

Muntu said in Nakaseke that his supporters in those districts fear to come out openly because of threats issued to them especially by the security officials.

Muntu on a mobilization tour of Nakaseke District mentioned some of the districts as Nakaseke, Nakasongola, Kabarole, Rakai and Kibaale.

The FDC leader and his supporters in Nakaseke had to force their way to the venue of his first rally at Kiwoko car park after the police blocked them.

However, the police later on gave way after the FDC national mobilizer Bwanika Bbaale showed them a letter from the police headquarters authorizing them to go ahead with the rally.

A visibly irritated Muntu said the move by the police was a sign that the NRM government had deviated from its principles of restoring democracy in the country.

“If such a thing can take place in Nakaseke, that means the NRM government has forgotten the reason why they fought,” he said.

“We fought for democracy but President Museveni and others in government have forgotten the reason why they fought,” he said.

Muntu said the security personnel including the police, UPDF and ISO were serving the interests of one man yet Uganda belongs to 30 million people.

He also said he had come to Nakaseke, one of the Districts where FDC supporters were ‘living in fear’, in order to boost their confidence ahead of elections to fill the various party committees.

He urged the people the people of Nakaseke to overcome their fear and rally behind the FDC in the drive to dislodge President Museveni.

The FDC national mobilizer, Absalom Bwanika Bbaale urged FDC supporters to stand for the various elective posts during the upcoming elections, so as to be able to cause change.

Muntu's mobilization tour took him to the sub counties of Kikamulo , Ngoma, Wakyato, Semuto and Kapeeka, all of which are NRM strongholds.
