Arthur Blick Sr. will on Saturday collect the 2014 Nile Special USPA Legendary award at the prestigious Nile Special USPA Gala at Imperial Royale Hotel.

Blick Sr. was unanimously voted by USPA executive for his contribution to the sport during the 70s and 80s.

Blick won the East African motorcycle Championship in 1971, 1972 and 1973 besides dominating the National Motocross Championship throughout the 70s and early 80s in Uganda.

"Blick has been very supportive to motorsport even after his career was cut short by an accident that put him in the wheel chair and that spirit convinced us to vote him for the award," USPA vice President Ritah Aliguma stated  why Blick was voted for the award.

Blick set a national record speed on the grass track in Nakivubo stadium that has never been broken since 1971.

His son Arthur Blick Jr has won the national championship for a record 10 times but has not broken the 2.24 minutes speed record in an 8 lap race since 1971.
