The AIDS Support Organization

The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) is a Ugandan not for profit non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in November 1987.

TASO exists to contribute to the process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease.

This is done through integrated services at every TASO Service Center. TASO program activities include HIV/AIDS Counseling, Medical care, Social support, Training, Community mobilization, HIV education and institutional capacity building, and Advocacy & Networking. 

TASO has a team of about 1000 established staff at Head Office located in Old Mulago Hospital Complex and the 12 service Centres at Rukungiri, Mbarara, Masaka, Kampala, Jinja, Mbale Tororo, Soroti, Gulu and Masindi.

In addition TASO has a number of suppliers, service providers and contractors mainly on once off contracts.

TASO therefore wishes to hire the services of a practicing legal firm on a retainer basis for a period of one year with effect from March 2013.

The work involved in this covers representing TASO in courts on staff matters or any matters incidental to the activities above, giving legal advice on a number of issues requiring legal opinion, preparing legal documents and performing any other legal work assigned by TASO.

Interested legal firms are invited to apply highlighting the services the firm will offer and the financial/cost structure proposed for this engagement.

The following points should also be highlighted:

1. Detailed physical address of the Chambers.

2. Names and CV of the main partners.

3. Telephone contacts and email addresses.

4. Names and CV of the core staff on fulltime time employment with the firm and their membership numbers to the Uganda Law Council.

5. At least 5 organizations currently serviced by the firm under similar arrangements. Give names and telephone contacts of a least 2 senior people in each of those organizations.

6. Attachments:

a. Certificate of Incorporation

b. Valid Practicing Certificate

c. Copy of the Articles and Memorandum of Association

d. VAT Registration Certificate.

• Hand-deliver your sealed and well labeled envelope to TASO HQs Reception Desk, Old Mulago Hospital Complex, TASO Building, First Floor between 9.00am and 4.00pm on working days only.

• Closing date will be February 12, 2013 at 4.00pm. Any submissions sent in after that time and date will not be accepted.
