Uganda, Pakistan to set up a diagnostic centre at Masaka hospital

The government of Uganda has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the university of Lahore to establish a diagnostic and imaging center at Masaka regional referral hospital.

The government of Uganda has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the university of Lahore to establish a diagnostic and imaging center at Masaka regional referral hospital.
 
The construction of the centre aims at providing modern and reliable diagnostic and imaging services for the patients.
 
Speaking while inspecting the facility together with the son to the late President of Pakistan-Muhammad Tjaz-UL-Haq, the founder of Lahore University, Muhammad Raoof said in addition to setting up a diagnostic centre, he will construct a university of science and technology in Masaka.
 
Masaka hospital’s managing director, Florence Tugumisirize said the current imaging services are not up to standard, adding that they need specialized imaging services like the CT-Scan and MRI among others.
 
She said “The only radiologist that was in the region later relocated to Rwanda for lack of an imaging center,”
 
Tugumisirize said with this new innovation, we think we are going to attract and retain health workers in Masaka regional referral hospital,”
 
The Vice Rector Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Mouhammad Mopezamihigo said, the centre will be equipped with modern high technology and reliable diagnostic and imaging equipment.
 
The political assistant- mobilization to the president, Ocen Milton said the reason why Masaka was selected for this project is because the place is an attractive area and serves a big number of
people.
 
The LC 5 chairman of the district, Joseph Kalungi commended Lahore University saying that the construction of the university is going to create employment to both skilled personnel and those without skills.
