Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has finally answered Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago’s plea and handed him his official vehicle.

Since he took over as city Lord Mayor one-and-a-half years ago, Lukwago has been using his family car to carry out official KCCA duties.

According to the 2010 KCCA Act, the Lord Mayor and his deputy are entitled to official vehicles to help them monitor activities of the city.

According to KCCA public relations officer Peter Kaujju, Lukwago needs the vehicle to carry out his official duties in the city centre and its suburbs.

“Our Lord Mayor needs to be catered for so that he can execute his duties.

“He has to monitor activities in the city, and this car is going to enable him traverse all the city divisions,” Kaujju said.

The Land Rover 4 Discovery costs approximately sh297m.

It has a telephone, garage door opener, voice control among other accessories, and a personalized number plate which goes for sh6m.
