Soroti University leaders named

A team of ¬ five people appointed to spearhead the construction of Soroti University of Science and Technology was inaugurated yesterday at a function presided over by education minister Jessica Alupo.

A team of ¬ five people appointed to spearhead the construction of Soroti University of Science and Technology was inaugurated yesterday at a function presided over by education minister Jessica Alupo.

Prof. Robert Ikoja was appointed the vice-chancellor.

The Government will give up to sh15b towards the construction of the university. Over 200 acres of land have been secured in Arapai subcounty near Teso College to house the public university.

Ikoja who is to head the team explained that they are mandated to ensure that the university is running next academic year.

Other members on the team include Lawrence Too-Okema formerly a lecturer at Gulu University, who will be in-charge  finance and administration; Ruth Achimo Etibot, also from Gulu University will be the university secretary; James Okello, formerly deputy academic registrar Makerere University is the academic registrar while former Katakwi LC5 chairman Stephen Ilemukorit will the administrative assistant.
