HAVING failed to retain the title with all the arsenal he had at his disposal, URA FC coach Alex Isabirye sure has an axe to grind with newly crowned Uganda Super League champions Express FC.

The Uganda Cup holders and the league champions for the 2011/12 season, URA, yesterday invaded the Red Eagles camp and poached budding midfielder Yayo Lutimba and striker Erisa Ssekisambu, with whom they signed two-year contracts.

The taxmen have also finalized the acquisition of Erukana Nkugwa (from SC Villa and Proline goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi. All the players are moving at undisclosed amounts and Isabirye believes the new signings will help his side regain the super league title next season.

“I needed these players to strengthen the team because I want the trophy next season. We lacked sufficient supply from the left, let alone a steady goalkeeper,” Isabirye said.

“I cannot tell you how much we have spent on them but I believe they, and others we are still looking at, will do the job,” Isabirye added, soon after finalising with Mugabi yesterday.

However, he failed in his ambitions to lure Bunamwaya’s Godfrey Walusimbi and Luwagga Kizito after the taxmen could not part with sh20m, the price tag on the two players.

Meanwhile, Victors goalkeeper Ali Kimera has moved to newly promoted Victoria University. He joins Maroons’ George Abege and Martin Mpuga.
