MITYANA

As the construction of the Busega-Mityana road continues, taxi drivers who use the road have expressed concern over its poor condition. The drivers complained about the number of humps built on the road, saying they had destroyed their vehicles. They said the taxis are also consuming more fuel than before because of the numerous humps. Wilson Ssekayombya, a driver from Namutamba, said they replace their car brakes everyday and spend two hours driving from Mityana to Kampala, a distance which usually takes one hour. Ssekayombya who was backed by Mohammed Nsereko and Warren Agaba added that, they had approached the Uganda taxi operators and drivers association to let them raise the fares but they had refused.
