SHAKIRA, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Angelique Kidjo! That’s just part of the mouth-watering menu of artists, part of more than 200 performers, including dancers, drummers, and acrobats, who will set the Orlando Stadium, alight tonight in what has been dubbed the greatest music concert in Africa’s history.

Concert publicist Penny Stein told The New Vision yesterday that tickets for the concert were sold out, with 30,000 fans expected to attend the night-long event.

“It’s going to be the biggest concert ever in Africa. The line-up is unbelievable and it will be non-stop untill morning,” she stated.

According to Jerome Valcke, the Secretary-General football’s governing body of FIFA, the pop concert would serve as a testament to the universal and unifying power of football and music.

People are excited and thrilled to have such a concert with famous performing talents who will raise the curtain on the first FIFA World Cup in Africa.

The concert will officially ‘kick off’ the 2010 World Cup football tournament.

Soccer’s biggest event starts tomorrow.

The concert has been put together by Emmy Award-winner Kevin Wall and his company Control Room.

Platinum-selling R&B artist R Kelly will perform at the grand opening ceremony.

Kelly’s admirers got a glimpse of what to expect at Soccer City the following day when he sent Rosebank Mall into frenzy yesterday.

As he took a stroll at the massive mall, women mobbed him, offering hugs and kisses and all were gladly accepted.
