Trinidad and Tobago is to train 10 Ugandans in the oil and gas industry, its high commissioner to Uganda has said.

Trinidad and Tobago is to train 10 Ugandans in the oil and gas industry, its high commissioner to Uganda has said.

Ambassador Patrick Edwards said during the celebration to mark his country’s 48th independence day in Kampala that the training was part of Trinidad’s commitment to assist in the development of Uganda’s young oil industry.

“My country holds the view that it is by cooperation, collaboration, training and the meaningful transfer of technology, that we can empower our people and truly begin to achieve the targets set by the United Nations Millennium Development Goals by 2015,” he said.

Trinidad and Tobago has an oil economy spanning over 50 years.
, exports oil and gas worth over $1b annually.
