FOUR of Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) soldiers have been arrested by UPDF over the killing of two Ugandans at Aweno-Olwii in Lokung sub-county in Lamwo, about 70km north of Kitgum town, reports Chris Ochowun.

The UPDF 503 Brigade commander, Lt. Col. Sam Kiwanuka, said, “We have arrested four SPLA soldiers and disarmed them.” He said the SPLA soldiers killed the two civilians on Monday.

Kiwanuka said his bosses would decide whether the soldiers should appear before a military or civil court. Kitgum local leaders condemned the killings.

Meanwhile, the UPDF killed six of Joseph Kony’s LRA rebels on Monday evening during a battle at Acholibur sub-county in Aruu, about 30km northwest of Pader district headquarters.

The 4th Division spokesman, Lt. Paddy Ankunda (right), said two of the rebels were killed on the spot while four bodies were recovered from the bushes. He said two sub-machineguns were also recovered.
