THE four family members who were on Easter Sunday hacked to death by a stepson were on Monday laid to rest.

It was a moment of grief as the four coffins with the bodies of the mother and her three children, including twins, were lined up in the compound of Jirikakya Yoronimu for the funeral service.

Grace Nuwamanya, 35, and Kakuru and Nyakato, four years and a nine-months-old baby, identified as Nyamaweija were buried at Rugazi in Ryeru sub-county, Bunyaruguru in Bushenyi district.

The four, who were buried in a banana plantation in separate graves dug in a line, were killed by Christopher Tumwesigye, 28.
He had been involved in land wrangles with his father Yoronimu.

Tumwesigye had been given a piece of land which he sold and demanded for more.

Addressing mourners, the area MP, Gaude Tindamanyire, said: “Sale of land is increasing problems. Why can’t LCs consult all the relatives and other stakeholders?”

“If you want to deny me your votes, it is okay but I will not tolerate people who make their partners suffer,” he stressed.
