Let the EAC administer Migingo island

EDITOR—There is no reason why Uganda and Kenya should fight over a tiny island like Migingo when we are headed for the East African federation. Let the EAC in Arusha manage the island and avert the tension between the two countries.
EDITOR—There is no reason why Uganda and Kenya should fight over a tiny island like Migingo when we are headed for the East African federation. Let the EAC in Arusha manage the island and avert the tension between the two countries.
The EAC should not come in as mediator but rather to entirely manage the island and its resources by putting in place enforceable rules to enable them collect revenue and remit it to Arusha for the benefit of the EAC.
The Migingo issue should not be seen as a problem between Uganda and Kenya only, but for the entire EAC and if it is left to be a contest between two sister countries it may soon or later cause unnecessary damage to the whole region.
