UGANDA National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) have organised a meeting aimed at establishing a private sector forum.

Slated for next Thursday at Hotel Africana in Kampala, the meeting will focus on how to strengthen the role of the private sector in improving qualifications and employability in Uganda.

GTZ under its programme for the Promotion of Employment Oriented Vocational Education and Training in Uganda signed an agreement with UNCCI in May for this purpose.

“Faced with the prospect of a prolonged global increase in unemployment, poverty and inequality and the continuing collapse of enterprises, the International Labour Organisation recently adopted a ‘Global Jobs Pact’ designed to guide national and international policies, which aim at stimulating economic recovery, generation of jobs and providing protection to working people and their families,” UNCCI said in a statement.

Under the new partnership, a forum for human resource development discussion has been set.

issues in order to ensure that realistic solutions for improving qualifications and employability in Uganda are streamlined and implemented.
