Good leadership is not about the title

THERE are many people in positions of responsibility who enjoy showing off just because they are bosses or managers. Leadership is not about telling people what to do, but inspiring them on what they are capable of and helping them get there.

THERE are many people in positions of responsibility who enjoy showing off just because they are bosses or managers. Leadership is not about telling people what to do, but inspiring them on what they are capable of and helping them get there.

The quality of leadership determines the difference between a team passionate about what they are doing vis-a- vis one that is following orders.

There are many factors that contribute to good leadership and regardless of whether one was born a leader, one can become a good leader provided he develops the characteristics of one.

A leader must have certain qualities. These differentiate a person who can boost an organisation’s growth from one who can run it down. As a leader, people who willingly go in a direction that you articulate believe you are honest, know what you are doing and behave in a way that is consistent with the values you preach.

The leader must, therefore, be credible. A leader who loses credibility loses the ability to get anything done.
