THE preparations for the installation of the new bishop of the Church of Uganda Soroti Diocese, the Rev. Can. George William Erwau, are in high gear. The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Luke Orombi, will consecrate and install Erwau on Sunday.
Erwau, who becomes the fifth native bishop, replaces the Rt. Rev. Dr. Charles Bernard Obaikol Ebitu, who retired recently. Ebitu served as bishop of the diocese for nine years.
St. Peter’s Cathedral Soroti Vicar, the Rev. Can. Robert Angiro, last Sunday called upon Christians to turn up in big numbers to grace the occasion.
