WESTERN region football officials have distanced themselves from FUFA presidential hopeful Godfrey Kwizera’s bid and endorsed the incumbent Lawrence Mulindwa for a second term in office.
Former FUFA vice president and National Council of Sports member, now Mbarara mayor Wilson Tumwine and outgoing delegates unanimously denounced Kwizera and promised to convince him to abandon his bid for the helm of the federation.
“Kwizera is my friend but for continuity this is not his level. I will tell him that in order to develop we need harmony. I will ensure this administration continues,†Tumwine vowed.
Tumwine was speaking at the opening ceremony of FUFA Western region office in Mbarara. FUFA opened its first ever regional office with new equipment including computers, photocopier and fax machine to coordinate the western region.
The equipment Mulindwa said, was acquired with the help of FIFA, CAF and FUFA funds.
Chairman Masindi George Kabwimukya and former FUFA presidential candidate Chris Rwanika also spoke for the delegates of the region.
