A modern complex will be constructed at Barlonyo, the scene of the gruesome 2004 massacre, the Prime Minister, Prof. Apolo Nsibambi, has said.
The complex will house a technical school, health centre, primary and nursery school.
During a function to commemorate the attack recently, Nsibambi said the project would be implemented under the $600m Peace, Recovery and Development Plan (PRDP).
This was in a speech read by ICT minister Dr. Ham Mulira recently.
PRDP is a three-year project aimed at enabling northern Uganda recover and develop. Nsibambi said the Government had overcome the insurgency and was now in a better position to protect the population.
Over 200 people lost their lives at Barlonyo on February 21, 2004, when the Lord’s Resistance Army attacked an internally displaced people’s camp.
