ANKE Weisheit, a German national, is among the seven candidates contesting for the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) guild presidency. Anke, a student of Development Studies, is the first Phd student to contest for the seat at MUST.

The chairperson of the nomination committee, Bruce Owakubariho, said there were five male candidates and two females in the race.

Others candidates are Alex Friday, Alex Asiimwe, Osbert, Twikirize, Kenneth Akatwijuka, Francis Odong and Pamela Ahimbisiibwe.

Owakubariho said campaigns would start today and elections would be conducted on April 14.

The incumbent guild president, Jude Amanya, warned that candidates who use their party colours and slogans would be disqualified.

He said partisan elections had divided students. Amanya is expected to hand over office on April 19.
