THE Prince of Bugabula, William Nadiope, has launched a five-point programme aimed at fostering development in the kingdom. The programme that Nadiope unveiled during his visit to the chief of Bugweri, Fred Kakaire, on Sunday seeks to promote the programme ahead of the election of the new Kyabazinga slated for October 31.
“I have started my tour of Busoga kingdom with a purpose of popularising this programme to all the 11 hereditary chiefs that form Busoga kingdom in the hope that it will help us revive the glory of our cultural institution to the entire nation,†Nadiope said.
In a statement signed by the Bugabula information secretary, Robert Kanusu, Nadiope said the agenda includes education, health, tourism, agriculture, unity and development.
Kanusu said Bugabula plans to carry out a population census based on the culture in all the 11 chiefdoms.
Kakaire pledged to support Bugabula’s bid. “We (Bugweri and Bugabula) are traditional allies and the fruits of our relationship are registered in various forms starting from educational progress engineered by my father (the late Menha Zirabamuzale).
Nadiope is one of the candidates for Kyabazinga.
