Where are the great buses you promised?

SIR — Travelling by public means is a nightmare. Taxi drivers and conductors hike transport fares whether fuel prices are up or down! Some drivers give the excuse that the price of sugar has risen.

SIR — I would like to thank UTODA’s Ndyomugyenyi for the idea of fining taxi conductors who over charge clients. They have cheated us for so long, especially those of Namasuba-Zana stage.

We even have guides but they don’t help at all. Apart from one old man, the rest are corrupt. The conductors give them money so that they can charge whatever they want. So, I request Ndyomugyenyi to put small posts for transport charges at each stage.

SIR — I reside in Zana and going there from the taxi park costs sh600, while coming to town is supposed to be sh500. However, in the mornings, these taxi men raise the fares to between sh700 and sh1000. This is stressful because you can never know how much money to budget for transport.

Please UTODA, streamline fares from our homes to the various destinations like you have done with the fares from the taxi park.
