TWO buildings built in Mbarara industrial park for smallscale industries have been commissioned.
Laurence Cockcroft, an official of the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, opened the buildings last week and said over 100 enterprises would benefit from the venture.
The park will house dealers in carpentry, metal fabrication, food processing, leather and textiles, construction, and electronics.
Cockcroft hailed the park’s development committee and contractor, Alpha-Gamma, for proper use of funds got from donors and the African Development Bank.
The Alpha-Gamma chief, Eng. Pascal Gakyaro, revealed that the industrial park that is to cost sh2.5b will have six blocks and four will be opened in June.
The Mbarara mayor, Wilson Tumwine, said all smallscale entrepreneurs would be pushed from the town to the park and asked the park officials to think about hosting the 2008 trade show.
