WHEN he settled into his multi-million storied bungalow in Magele village over 2km off Gayaza Road, singer Bobi Wine learnt first hand the tranquillity of a remote home, as desirable as it is, came with a heavy price. He had to tap piped water and electricity 2km away from the main road.

Naturally, the poor villagers thought he was a Godsend and scampered to connect off his grid for free. But Bobi Wine was having none of it. He insisted they pay him or go get their own from 2km away! Disgruntled, they teased him about using a road that runs through their land and which they had maintained for ages before he settled in Magele.

But Wine’s pride was pricked by their remarks, so much that the showy singer went ahead and paid over sh18m for a forest land in front of his house and channelled the main road to his house through there. Hmm. Money talks doesn't it?
