LC3 chairpersons in Ibanda district will undergo training at the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi next month. The microfinance state minister, Gen. Salim Saleh, said the officials would become change- agents and mobilise the youth to implement the Bonna Bagaggawale programme.

The minister was handing over eight motorcycles to sub-county chiefs in the district. The motorcycles will facilitate movement of the officials while implementing the wealth-for-all programme.

Saleh pledged to give the officials some computers. He said: “We finished training the sub-county chiefs. But the LC3s will face challenges while mobilising communities, hence the need for the training.”

Recently, a group of sub-county chiefs, district commercial officers and town clerks, underwent similar training at Kyankwanzi. They studied microfinance policy framework, community information systems, Uganda’s poverty levels, economic development, formation and use of SACCOs (savings and credit cooperative organisations) and some military skills.
