OVER 1300 DR Congo refugees in Nakivale resettlement camp in Mbarara have received relief items worth US$17,000 (about sh30m), under the Church of Uganda development and rehabilitation programme.
Items distributed included blankets, buckets, clothes, soap and construction of shelter for vulnerable groups in Rubondo.
Maria Kamuhangire, the Church’s officer in charge of refugees, officiating at the function, said the refugees who crossed into Uganda through Rucuru were escaping from clashes between the DRC government forces and rebel groups.
