PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni is set to preside over the launch of the Akright Kakungulu Housing Project, 18 kilometres on the Kampala-Entebbe highway.

Kakungulu is one of the local biggest privately developed housing estates.
The launch is slated for July 14. Anatoli Kamugisha, the Akright Project Ltd’s managing director, said the provision of affordable housing, which had been prioritised by the Government, compelled Museveni to visit them.

“We have sold the concept to the President, invited him to formally launch it, as well as witness the work we are doing. This concept will then be spread all over the country,” Kamugisha said.

He said this was a gesture to show the President that they appreciate his initiave to avail affordable housing and mortgage finance to Ugandans, and also the conducive business environment the Government has created.

Museveni will among other things tour the estate, and lay a foundation stone to mark the initiation of the project.

Kamugisha said since the Kakungulu site had been identified as one of the estates that can provide alternative accommodation for the youth and media practitioners, who will be part of the delegates at the Commonwealth Heads of State and Government Meeting next year, they wanted to show what they have already put on the ground.

He said among the invited dignitaries are ministers, MPs, diplomats, local leaders and clients who have acquired property within their nine housing estates around Kampala.
