He said national prayers would begin at 9:00am at Old Kampala Secondary School playground.
Kiyonga visits
KIBAALE - The minister of defence, Dr. Crispus Kiyonga on Thursday toured the districts of Kibaale, Kyenjojo and Mubende to asses the security situation in the region. His tour followed the reports of the presence of Allied democratic front rebels there.
EU calls M7
KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni is expected to address the first EU-Africa Business Forum organised by the European Commission due in Brussels from November 16-17. The Forum coincides with the European Development Days in Brussels. Museveni has been invited by EU Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, Louis Michel, said a statement form the European Union mission in Kampala.
CHOGM team
A six-member team from the Commonwealth Secretariat in London arrives in Uganda tomorrow to discuss plans for for the November 2007 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) with the national task force. The team will meet President Yoweri Museveni during their three-day visit, Matthew Neuhaus, the leader of the team, said. Joel Kibazo, the director of communications and political affairs division, is among the visiting officials,†the National Task Force spokesperson, Kagole Kivumbi, said yesterday.

KAMPALA - The Military police have deployed at the Intensive Care Unit in Mulago Hospital to guard the UPDF officer who was shot. A mobile traffic Police officer, Martin Ahimbise, on Thursday shot Capt. Naboth Mugume, a military Police operations officer, in the stomach at Bwaise trading centre after he refused to heed to the traffic officers’ directives. The hospital spokesperson, Eliphaz Ssekabira, said Mugume’s condition was improving.
22 charged
KAMPALA - Twenty-two people were on Thursday charged with illegally slaughtering animals. Ibrahim Mubiru and three others denied the charges before City Council Court magistrate Esther Nambayo and were remanded in Luzira Prisons. Nine others, who denied the charges, were released on cash bail of between 50,000 and 100,000. The suspects were arrested in an operation aimed at promoting proper hygiene in meat handling areas. The operation was spearheaded by the Ministry of agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.

KAMPALA - Foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa has called upon the Norwegian government to invest in the construction industry. He said this would create jobs and provide houses for low and middle income Ugandans. Kutesa was meeting Uganda’s Consul to Norway Neils Chr. Nokleby at his office. A statement said Nokleby’s business interests were in abattoir, aqua-culture, forestry and housing projects.

KAMPALA - Foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa has praised Abdullah Buljeldin, the outgoing Libyan ambassador, saying he had cemented the relationship between the two countries. In a statement on Friday, the foreign affairs ministry said Buljeldin said he was happy to have been part of the many consultations between Presidents Yoweri Museveni and Muammar Gadaffi.

KAMPALA - Kabaka Ronald Mutebi has appealed to Muslims countrywide to uphold good moral values.In his Idi El-ftri message, he said, “We congratulate you upon finishing the entire month of Ramathan successfully.
