Kirunda, children are not that foolish

SIR — Recently, Hon. Kirunda Kivejinja made blunt remarks during a presentation to the proponents of East African Federation, which were published in Bukedde, titled Abagala federo balinga abaana abato (those who want federalism are like children).

This gives the impression that there was political over-excitement by the presenter, forgetting that children too, have their rights.

First, a child is not as foolish as Hon. Kivejinja wants us to think. As an adult, you have done many embarrassing things which the children cannot, such as political sycophancy from UPC, UPM, NRM.

In Parliament, you allegedly messed up with 2,000 litres of petroleum and you were removed from there. The method in which you returned to Parliament has been contested in courts of law. Unfortunately, I did not listen to the complainant (Abdul Katuntu), but those who attended, said the High Court had no choice, but to nullify the elections.

If Kivejinja cannot establish a federal system in Uganda, which is accompanied with support from Justice Benjamin Odoki’s report, how do you expect to establish and maintain the East African Federation with transparency and accountability?

Hon Y. Nsubuga Nsambu
President General Conservative Party
