Kampala gets bishop

THE Rev. Dr. Zac Niringiye was on Sunday consecrated as Bishop in the Church of Uganda at a ceremony presided over by the Archbishop, Henry Luke Orombi, at All Saints Cathedral in Kampala.

THE Rev. Dr. Zac Niringiye was on Sunday consecrated as Bishop in the Church of Uganda at a ceremony presided over by the Archbishop, Henry Luke Orombi, at All Saints Cathedral in Kampala.

Milton Olupot reports that Niringiye, 51, took up the portfolio of assistant Bishop of Kampala Diocese, replacing the Rev. Bishop Eliphaz Maari, 65, who retired after seven years in the post.

The new Bishop has been the African Regional Director of the Church Mission Society and Honorary Curate at Christ Church Beckenham, Diocese of Rochester, London.

The ceremony was attended by the Archbishops of Rwanda and Sudan, Emmanuel Kolini and Joseph Marona, Chief Justice Benjamin Odoki and information state minister Dr. Nsaba Buturo.
