Uganda has asked the US government to provide support for the rehabilitation of northern Uganda when the 18-year-long insurgency ends.
Meeting Senators and Congressmen in Washington DC recently, youth and children affairs state minister Felix Okot Ogong hailed the US for facilitating efforts to end the war.
Okot’s visit was meant to raise awareness about the children caught in the conflict.
This was contained in a statement last week.
Ogong also spoke to the US government leaders about increasing support for Uganda from the US government.
He also met the Deputy secretary for Human Health Services (HHS), officials from the US Department of State and NGOs working in his area of concern.
The HHS department is to arrange a video conference with the minister to develop a strategy for future support.
