PADER — Security in northern Uganda is to remain tight despite the successful referendum elections, the regional Police commander said. Assistant commissioner of police Katurebe Ariniaitwe said, “Our forces and the military are to remain on full alert as we closely monitor the post-referendum events.”

Survivors ask
GULU — The district landmine survivors have petitioned the Government over lack of financial and material support. The survivors, who agreed to revive their association for proper advocacy, said the Government did not support them yet it supported ebola survivors and the Luweero war victims.

57b/- budget
APAC — The district council has passed a budget of sh57b for the financial year 2005/2006. In a council meeting on Wednesday, the secretary for finance and administration, Ray Ojok, said they expect about sh780 from donor aid.
