King Fahd of the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was a great friend to Uganda who contributed to many development initiatives, the Government said yesterday.
In a tribute to the fallen leader, the Government said the king would be missed by Uganda and the Muslim community.
“Uganda enjoyed a cordial relationship with the late King Fahd. He was a great friend of Uganda, who had the Muslim community close to his heart,†a statement read by state minister for foreign affairs Okello Oryem said.
Second deputy Prime Minister Lt. Gen. Moses Ali represented the government at the burial.
MPs Lule Mawiya (Kalungu east), Anim Angupale (Arua woman), Okuti Nasur (Arua), Kaddunabi Lubega (Butambala), Okot Omodi, Ken Lukyamuzi (Lubaga south), Pataki Amasi, Nusura Tiperu (Yumbe) and Edward Wesonga (Bubuulo) eulogised the fallen king.
Mawiya and Wesonga praised him for funding the construction of the King Fahd Plaza on Kampala road and the Islamic University In Uganda in Mbale district, eastern Uganda.
