HIPPOS had their defence exposed by CECAFA champions SC Villa yesterday.
Despite the draw, national U-20 coach Moses Basena felt lessons had been learnt in time to be rectified before travelling to Zanzibar.
The U-20 team’s 4-4-2 style of play served them so well with goals for strikers Abubaker Muyanja and a double from Charles Semanda and they should have won but for awful defending.
Andrew Mwesigwa, Denis Onyango and Musa Mawanda scored for Villa in a game that had uplifting notes for Basena.
He was encouraged by the bright, busy movement of Ronald Muganga, Zirintuusa Boban’s role as a holding midfielder and the huge work ethic of team Captain Oscar Agaba.
The team, preparing for the forthcoming CECAFA youth championships in Zanzibar, will depart tomorrow.
