PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has named 12 new ambassadors and recalled others in a wide-ranging reshuffle announced yesterday.

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has named 12 new ambassadors and recalled others in a wide-ranging reshuffle announced yesterday.
A number of ambassadors and high commissioners have also been transferred while others have retained their stations.
The new ambassadors who are to be approved by Parliament are; former Electoral Commission chairman Aziz Kasujja, Toro Princess Elizabeth Bagaya who served as an envoy during the late dictator Idi Amin’s regime, Perez Kamunanwire, Richard Kabonero, former External Security Organisation Director General Maj. Gen. Fredrick Oketcho, Moses Sebunya and Dr. Ebuk.
Others are Laban Kirya, a former Pallisa district chairman, Arsene Balihuuta, Charles Wagidoso, a former Bulambuli MP, George Abola and David Etuket.
The President’s Principal Private Secretary, Amelia Kyambadde, signed the statement announcing the changes.
Those recalled are Sisye Thomas Kiryapaawo (London), who is being re-deployed at the Electoral Commission, Phillip Idro from Beijing, China, Christine Taliwaku (Canada) and William Hakiza (Libya). They were redeployed at the foreign affairs ministry headquarters.
The ambassadors who retained their stations were James Lukabyo (Australia), Francis Butagira (USA), Matayo Kyaligonza (Kenya), Muli Katende (Khartoum) and Busho Ndiyenka (Juba).
Edith Sempala, the longest-serving envoy to the US and until recently Uganda’s permanent representative to the UN, moves to Ethiopia, Joan Rwabyomere from Abuja to the UK, Katenta Apuuli from Tanzania to Belgium, Joseph Tomusange from Pretoria to Denmark, Umar Lubuulwa goes to Egypt and Ahmed Kisule to Iran.
Adonia Ayebare moves from Rwanda to the US as a deputy ambassador, while Wasswa Birigwa moves from Ethiopia to Japan. He replaces ambassador James Baba, who has retired.
Others moved are Elizabeth Napeyok to France, Deo Rwabita (Italy), Ibrahim Mukiibi (Saudi Arabia) and Kweronda Ruhemba (South Africa).
