CN Cotton Limited, who operate Kachumbala Ginnery in Kumi, are to spend sh800m to boost output.

Company chairman, Magan Patel said recently, farmers will be assisted in opening up larger fields and obtain inputs.

“We are also going to emphasise tractor ploughing services to the farmers as an encouragement to extensive farming,” he said.

He said about sh500m was spent last year. “Because of our efforts, we expect about over 20,000 bales of cotton this year,” Patel said.

He said their firm wants to help make cotton the number one cash crop in the country.
