New Paper Out On Thursday

THE Weekly Observer, a new English newspaper, hits the streets on Thursday. Its promoters are mainly journalists who recently quit <i>The Monitor</I> newspaper.

THE Weekly Observer, a new English newspaper, hits the streets on Thursday. Its promoters are mainly journalists who recently quit The Monitor newspaper.
“It shall steer clear of undue headline merchandising and try to nurture tolerance and dialogue at all levels,” Nabusayi Wam-boka, one of the editors, told the press yesterday.
Managing editor Kevin Aliro said the 36-page newspaper would cost sh1,000, adding that they would post breaking stories on www.ugandaobserver.com. He said the idea was sparked off by his forced resignation from The Monitor.
Other founders include Ibrahim Semuju, Sarah Namulondo, James Tum-isiime, Carol Nakazibwe, H.B. Zziwa, rukia Babirye, Elizabeth Kameo and Elizabeth Agiro. Ends
