THE Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) board of directors, which was in office since August 1997, has been dissolved and a new one named.

Ibrahim Kironde Kabanda has been appointed the new board chairman, replacing Dr. Eric Adriko, who served two terms.

Each term lasts three years. The Adriko-led board had served for six years.

The new members, appointed by finance minister Gerald Ssendaula (left) included Ivan Kyayonka, chairman Shell Uganda who represents the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association, Chris Kassami, secretary to the treasury and tourism ministry permanent secretary Sam Nahamya.

A source said the dissolution follows disagreements in the finance ministry on the proposed renewal of URA commissioner general Annebritt Aslund’s contract, which expires this month.
