THE Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has granted the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) a licence to manage Bugungu Airstrip.

According to a UWA press release, CAA issued the licence on June 7, after declaring the facilities at the airstrip technically ready for use.

“UWA was granted the licence to open up the airstrip for commercial use,” the release said.

The airstrip, situated about 10km from Paraa Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park, will handle commercial flights to and from Masindi and also tourists to the Park.

“People travelling to Masindi and interested in riding through the national park, or tourists staying at Paraa Safari Lodge could also use the Airstrip,” it stated.
