Mutale soldiers to serve eight months

TWO soldiers attached to Kalangala Action Plan mobilisation unit of presidential advisor Maj. Kakooza Mutale (right), were sentenced to eight-month detention by the Court Martial convened at Bombo Army headquarters on Tuesday.

TWO soldiers attached to Kalangala Action Plan mobilisation unit of presidential advisor Maj. Kakooza Mutale (right), were sentenced to eight-month detention by the Court Martial convened at Bombo Army headquarters on Tuesday.
Lt. Bob Oringi and Cpl. Andrew Okello were convicted after pleading guilty to charges of failure to protect war materials.
Court was chaired by Col. Geoffrey Taban assisted by Judge advocate Capt. Timothy Zakama.
The prosecutor, Ben Agaba, said Oringi and Okello on October 20, 2003 while in Kampala, gave Mustafa Kalifani, a UTODA agent, an SMG rifle with three magazines.
Oringi and Okello were arrested by the Violent Crime Crack Unit and were first charged before the General Court Martial before being transferred to Bombo.
