MBARARA municipality mayor-elect Wilson Tumwine has said he has designed a 10-year programme to expand Mbarara town by a radius of seven miles from the, reports Ebenezer Bifubyeka.“Makenke Barracks next to Mbarara Coca-Cola plant and all the trading centres around Mbarara town will be inside Mbarara town,†he said.Tumwine said this on Sunday during the handing over of a sh4m a loan to the district local administration, at Pelikan Hotel in Mbarara.The money is a contribution to the payment for a hectare of land worth sh7m for Mbarara small-scale industrialists.The land is located at Makenke on Mbarara-Masaka Highway.Tumwine said Ugandans have got nothing from the professors of Gatsby Department at Makerere University who have never given any assistance to small-scale industrialists.“I give credit to Uganda Small-Scale industries Association because it offers free industrial training through fabrication workshops and seminars,†he said.Tumwine urged the small-scale industrialists to stop competing with hatred but instead ally and formulate an association to expand and create employment for residents, hence eradicating poverty.The general manager for the Kampala-based Uganda Gatsby Trust, Dr. Joseph Byaruhanga, thanked Mbarara small-scale industrialists for contributing sh4.1m for buying industrial land from the district.
